Emily
Chang

Emily Chang is a host and executive producer at Bloomberg Originals. In 2023, she launched “The Circuit with Emily Chang,” a show that focuses on the intersection of technology, entertainment, business and culture. In its debut season, Chang interviewed OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and visited the company’s secretive headquarters. She also sat down with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, met Airbnb founder and CEO Brian Chesky at his San Francisco home, went behind the scenes of the hit movie “Barbie,” and interviewed several celebrities including actress Natalie Portman and TikTok star Charli D’Amelio.

Chang is currently developing additional new series with Bloomberg Originals to be released in 2024. She anchored the daily “Bloomberg Technology” program on Bloomberg Television for twelve years, along with the long-form interview series “Studio 1.0.” In 2018, Chang published “Brotopia: Breaking Up the Boys’ Club of Silicon Valley” which instantly became a national bestseller. She has also played herself in several cameos on HBO’s hit show “Silicon Valley.”

Over the course of her career, Chang has interviewed several top executives, investors and entrepreneurs, including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Google CEO Sundar Pichai and JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon. She has also spoken with some of the most prominent leaders in Hollywood, including Disney CEO Bob Iger, Netflix founder Reed Hastings and producer Aaron Sorkin, along with cultural icons like tennis great Serena Williams and basketball star Stephen Curry.

Before joining Bloomberg in 2010, Chang served as an international correspondent for CNN in Beijing. There, she reported on a wide range of stories, including the 2008 Olympics, President Obama’s first visit to Asia and North Korea’s nuclear ambitions. She also reported for CNN in London, where she covered international news for CNN’s “American Morning” program.

Prior to joining CNN, Chang served as a reporter at KNSD, NBC’s affiliate in San Diego, California. There, she filed reports for MSNBC and won five Emmy Awards. She started her career as a news producer at NBC in New York.

Chang lives in the Bay Area with her husband and four children. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University. Chang is a board advisor at BUILD, a national non-profit organization that uses entrepreneurship to excite and propel disengaged, low-income students through high school to college success.
